Both of these photos were taken during the week of Christmas, 2025 at the levee in Baton Rouge. Through that entire week, the highs hovered around a humid 75 degrees on average. Dense fog rolled in late each night, and it’d hang around well into the morning. The Mississippi River was about as low as I had ever seen it, revealing pathways all the way down to the water’s edge. Being able to walk that far down into the river gave me a new perspective on the the landscape of Downtown Baton Rouge; specifically, the Horace Wilkinson Bridge (the New Bridge).

My favorite photos to take are those that can help me see something familiar as brand new, or those that might highlight some beauty in the mundane. These two shots are a couple of my favorites, so far.
